about

577 Records is proud to announce the release of Sabir Mateen and William Simone’s debut album Joys! with an exclusive limited edition of 20 CDs and as a digital download.

This is Sabir’s second recording on 577 Records, joining his previous release, Prophecies Come To Pass. Sabir, having relocated from NYC to Italy, met William in Bologna through a mutual friend and their musical communication began almost immediately, the fruition of which is beautifully showcased on this release.

Sabir’s outstanding lyricism coupled with William’s hypnotic drumming creates a rawness and sophistication that gives this album the feel of a Moon Dog for our time. Exploring new avenues of sound that go from wild and raw to waterfalls of notes cascading over exotic grooves, this duo pushes the boundaries of the rapport between traditional acoustic instruments and electronic music.

The cover of this album features beautiful original artwork from the painter MP Landis and graphics by renowned Italian designer, Sergio Vezzali.
