about

An album of aesthetic contradictions, Jack-a-Roe is a singular statement of modern avant-garde folk-jazz music. Combining Justin Purtill's strange, angular melodies with the creative ferocity of Leo Genovese and Sean Conly's improvisations, this music was created in the spirit of surrender; which is to say an almost total non-adherence to musical norms, both those in the "straight/traditional" and "free jazz" idioms.
